Parenting Babies

Most parenting books that cover the first year of a baby’s life focus on development and important milestones to look out for, but that’s certainly not the whole story when it comes to parenting a newborn.

Just because an infant isn’t walking or talking yet doesn’t mean that there aren’t good ways to begin to integrate them into the family and community systems or to help acclimate them to the world around them.

“Learning to Love” is a book by psychologist Lorraine Rose and recommended by our director Catherine Sanders.

It examines how the relationships between mother, father and baby develop in the first year of life, and introduces thoughtful concepts like ‘hard’ and ‘soft experiences’ in a baby’s first year.
