How Can We Help?
A Clinical Tool to Teach Boundaries
The following diagram was used with a client with a diagnosed intellectual disability who had difficulty effectively assessing and maintaining boundaries in social situations. It was created in co-operation with the client, encouraging them to think of appropriate and inappropriate conversation topics and possible responses to these topics. The task utilizes both word and image as a way of reducing inequality in the relationship with the practitioner and maximizing the clients capacity to both understand, process and recall the conversation.
