Catherine Sanders

Director, Clinical Psychologist and Family Therapist

Catherine is a clinical psychologist, registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and member of the Australian Psychological Society, The Australian Psychological Society College of Clinical Psychologists, and a clinical member and supervisor with the Australian Association of Family Therapy.
Catherine has extensive public and private sector practice experience as teacher and clinician with particular expertise as a family therapist. She has an enduring interest in work with children and their relationships with family, friends and their world.

Catherine has a relationship with all three South Australian universities as a clinical supervisor and lecturer and has sat on course advisory and accreditation committees for the University of South Australia.

Catherine was president of the Family Therapy Association of South Australia from 1988-1992, president of the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Family Therapy from 2004 to 2005 and associate editor from 1984-8. She currently sits on the board of The Australian Association of Family Therapy and is Convenor  of state, territory and regional branches.

Catherine is Director of the Bower Place Family Therapy and Systemic Practice Training Programme and secured accreditation of the course with AAFT. She is a regular presenter in the Bower Place professional development workshops series and lectures and also delivers workshops, seminars and lectures throughout Australia to psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, family therapists, lawyers, nurses, marriage guidance counsellors and educators across a wide range of theoretical issues and client problems relating to therapeutic practice.

Catherine has presented to family therapy and psychology meetings within Australia and overseas and has published in excess of a dozen papers both locally and overseas in peer reviewed journals and books including a chapter on working with children in the Australian publication, A Practical Guide to Family Therapy edited by Paul Rhodes and Andrew Wallis.
